Enter the exact width and height of the item being framed. Use the same dimensions for the frame and any acrylic/glass or backing. We build the frame around this size.

To order by outside frame size or visible front opening, explain your requirements in the cart’s Special Instructions box.

For a 2″ mat border, add 4″ to both the artwork’s width and height. Use these larger dimensions for both the frame and mat package.

Order the liner at the artwork’s exact size. For the outer frame, add twice the liner width to both artwork dimensions.

Standard frames: 1/8″ allowance per dimension. Floater frames: a 1/4″ gap around the ordered dimensions.

Choose a width that suits your artwork and style. Wider mouldings give artwork more emphasis. Avoid narrow mouldings for large, heavy contents; thin corners carry more stress. Reinforce back corners with steel angle brackets if needed.

Rabbet depth is the frame’s internal depth. Prints with glazing, backing and mats usually need 1/4″–3/8″. Compare deeper artwork, such as stretched canvas, with the rabbet depth. Any excess will project from the back.

Floater frames include a 1/4″ gap around the ordered canvas dimensions. Ideally, match the rabbet depth to your canvas. If the rabbet is deeper, raise the canvas with wood strips attached at the back.
